Wellness (also known as Life-Wellness) is a concept, a philosophy, and a model that is oriented towards helping a person assess their lifestyle, and all major areas of life in an effort to maximize their optimal potential towards increasing their ability to enjoy a healthy, well-balanced, enriched, and fulfilling life. It can be viewed as a mind set, an approach that encourage individuals to seek and adopt positive habits and behaviors that enables them to pursue and sustain a healthy, more productive and satisfying lifestyle.
The Wellness model defines a positive approach towards living a lifestyle that emphasizes the whole person through the integration of the body, mind, and spirit as well as other aspects of Wellness. Achieving a high state of Wellness means functioning at optimal levels that includes having a sense of inner peace, harmony, balance, acceptance, satisfaction, and not about achieving perfection. Wellness is also described as a lifelong, proactive, dynamic process of being aware of one's self, and about making conscious choices that involve expanding knowledge, skills, values and practices that focus on living a lifestyle that combines balance, health, joy, love, contentment, and happiness.
The Wellness model provides key principle concepts necessary to assess and improve all areas or aspects of life that lead to high levels of well-being, acceptance, and overall satisfaction. Wellness helps you focus on creating a feeling of being more comfortable and secure by working towards being more in touch and in control of your health, emotions, spirituality, relationships, environment, occupation, finances, leisure, lifestyle and destiny. This will most probably translate into experiencing inner peace, tranquility, and joy.
Practicing Wellness concepts involves gaining an understanding and appreciation that everything you do, think, and feel has a small or a big impact on your state of health, lifestyle, and all that surrounds you. It's a sense that "self" is central from which your world unfolds.
There're many factors that contribute towards your state of Wellness, including eating healthy, adequate sleep, engaging regularly in physical exercise and self-care, developing and applying spirituality, maintaining healthy relationships, living in a clean environment that promotes good health, and creating a good balance between career, personal, and leisure.
Research studies show that people who take care of themselves and manage their lifestyles effectively are healthier, more productive, content, happier and have fewer problems and illnesses then people who don't care or bother.
