Begin your breathing technique with a deep cleansing breath.
Towel:
Folded in half.
Hold one end of the towel near your side with both hands right next each other.
Movement:
With little or no resistance, raise the towel over your head to the other side by pulling with the front hand and sliding it through the other hand.
Once on the other side, drop the towel with the front hand and bring back hand to your other side.
Return your hands to the starting position, again holding the end of the towel to one side.
Repeat to the other side.
Allow your body to rock freely with the movement.
Duration:
Start with 15 to 30 times and adjust to fit your needs.
Remember:
Inhale deeply with each movement to energize yourself.
Variation:
As you slide your hands down towards the ends of the towel, bend over sideways at the waist, first to one side and then the other.
Add no or very little resistance when sliding hands across the towel when loosening up or in a freestyle routine.
You can periodically stop and pull the towel taut to add more resistance when stretching. Try sliding, stopping. gripping and then releasing, moving slowly.
Don't lock your knees and focus on your breathing and form.
